Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla, Kulgam and Sopore and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarter Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Chandoosa headed by SHO Police Station Chandoosa, at a checkpoint established at Galibal Chandoosa, intercepted two suspects Abdul Qayoom Lone S/o Ab Rehman R/o Shirpora and Mudasir Ahmad Dar S/o Ab Rashid R/o Heewan Sheeri and during search recovered 36 grams of Charas from the possession of the said accused who were immediately arrested and shifted to Police Station Chandoosa where they remain in custody.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action, a Police party of Police Station Kulgam, during patrolling at Hadigam, intercepted a suspect Farooq Ahmad Thoker S/o Gull Mohammad Thoker R/o Hadigam and during search recovered 700 grams of Charas from his possession following which the said accused was arrested and shifted to Police Station Kulgam where he remains in custody.
Stating that in Sopore also, a Police party of Police Station Bomai, at a checkpoint established at Zonipora Crossing, Tujjer Shareef, arrested a drug peddler identified as Irfan Ahmad Pir @Bit Pir S/o Mohammad Sultan Pir R/o Tujjer Shareef Sopore and during search recovered 560 grams of Charas from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigation, the Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
