Kishtwar: To review preparedness for the LokSabha Elections 2024 in Kishtwar district, General Observer for 4-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, Dheeraj Kumar and Police Observer, Daljit Singh on Sunday conducted a comprehensive meeting with Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) and Nodal Officers at the Conference Hall of DC Office Complex here during their two-day visit.
District Election Officer Kishtwar, Dr.DevanshYadav, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom and other officers and officials were present.
During the meeting, the Observers emphasized the need for close coordination to assess and enhance election preparedness across the district.
Detailed discussions were held on various aspects, including the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct, expenditure monitoring, security plans, transport and communication plans, intensifying SVEEP campaign and the functioning of VST and flying squads.
The meeting was informed that there are 405 polling stations in 3 ACs, with approximately 14 critical polling stations. Additionally, 09 model polling stations were identified, managed by women and PWD employees. The availability of trained personnel (Master Trainers) was also discussed, along with the training plan enforced so far.
District Election Officer Kishtwar provided a detailed overview of election preparedness at the polling station level, including plans for a single-window system for granting permissions, monitoring the Model Code of Conduct, Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), vigilance on expenditure, and management of paid news.
The General Observer and Police Observer also reviewed the map plan for the LokSabha election across the district.
In the meeting, the General and Police Observers held discussions with police officers, including SSP Kishtwar, army officers, AROs, and representatives from the police department. The focus was on deploying police parties, ensuring security arrangements at polling stations and strong rooms, and outlining comprehensive security plans for the upcoming LokSabha elections in 2024.
The Observers also conducted a thorough inspection of polling stations and strong rooms, intermediate strong Rooms in Kishtwar, Mughal Maidan and Marwah area during their visit.
Accompanied by DEO and SSP Kishtwar, the observers reviewed arrangements and security measures, and directives were issued to ensure all facilities are in place ahead of Elections.
While inspecting several polling stations and strong rooms, they emphasized on importance of detailed contingency and fool proof transport plans, including induction and re-induction plans for airlifting of polling parties and election machinery.
Meanwhile, the SVEEP campaign was also given an impetus by both General and Police Observer by launching District “SVEEP Song” of local artists for Voters’ awareness at the Picture Time Theatre TRC Kishtwar.
The launching ceremony also witnessed the screening of Electoral Awareness movies in the Theatre with enthusiastic participation of youth Voters on the occasion.
