Srinagar : Police on Sunday said that it has arrested four gamblers in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and seized stake money and playing cards from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said that while acting on a specific inputs regarding gambling activities in the orchards near Kuta Morh Pattan, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Pattan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan raided the specific spot and apprehended four gamblers identified as Zahoor Ahmad Darzi S/o Gh Nabi R/o Pattan, Hilal Ahmad Sofi @ Pinna S/o Noor Din R/o Sofi Mohalla Pattan, Bashir Ahmad Gojri S/o Ab Gaffar R/o Jamia Mohalla Pattan and Zahoor Ahmad Sofi @ DC S/o Mohd Rajab R/o Pattan and recovered stake money of ₹5300/- & playing cards from their possession, adding therein that the said accused have been shifted to Police Station Pattan where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pattan besides initiating further investigation , the Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
