Srinagar: Below is the timeline of the weeklong major public events in Jammu & Kashmir:-


1. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level meeting on April 02 to review the preparedness of concerned departments and agencies for upcoming Eid, Navratras and Baisakhi festivals. The meeting was attended by Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; RR Swain, DGP; Vijay Kumar, ADGP, Armed, Law & Order; Anand Jain, ADGP Jammu; Administrative Secretaries; Divisional Commissioners; Deputy Commissioners and senior officers of Civil and Police administration.
2. A police Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma, injured in a fierce gun battle with gangsters at GMC Kathua, breathed his last in the early hours of Wednesday at Amandeep Hospital in Pathankot. Sharma, who sustained severe head injuries during the shootout, as per police, was was injured in a firefight with gangsters in GMC Kathua, and succumbed to his injuries.
3. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tributes to the PSI Deepak Sharma, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Every drop of blood of our martyr will be avenged and we are committed to create a fear-free J&K.
4. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha this week chaired the 72nd Board Meeting of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) at Raj Bhawan. The meeting was attended by Members of the Board – Mahamandleshwar Swami Vishveshvaranand Giriji, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor and Anshul Garg, CEO, SMVDSB.
5. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to address a mega election rally at MahaSabha in Janipur, Jammu on April 9. This announcement comes after the approval for Prime Minister NarendraModi’s rally at Modi Stadium in Udhampur on April 12.
6. Ahead of LokSabha elections, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Law & Order J&K, Vijay Kumar, also serving as the State Police Nodal officer (SPNO) for the parliament election 2024, conducted a comprehensive review of election-related preparedness for the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary constituency in Anantnag.
7. The Director of School Education (DSE) in Jammu and Kashmir has established committees to investigate complaints against private schools in both the divisions of the Jammu and Kashmir. These committees consist of various officers who will be responsible for verifying the complaints that have been frequently reported from different sources, including social media platforms.
8. Five Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopters, including the new US-made Chinook, participated in an overnight drill practice for emergency landings along the Srinagar-Jammu highway at Bijbehara area of Anantnag district. Two large US-made Chinook helicopters, one Russian-made Mi-17, and two smaller Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) of IAF landed on a stretch at Bijbehara as part of the practice to prepare for emergencies.
9. Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain assured the public of comprehensive security measures during the upcoming LokSabha polls in Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking at the passing out parade of 30th BRTC at SardarPrithinandan Singh, Police Training School, Kathua, Swain emphasised the tireless efforts of security forces to safeguard all stakeholders throughout the electoral process.
