Jammu: A National Painters’ Camp organized by Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu at JKTDC Complex, Mansar Lake (Dist. Samba, J&K), concluded with holding of Valedictory Ceremony where Suresh Kumar Gupta IFS, Principal Secretary, Department of Culture, Govt. of J& K was the chief guest. Ramesh Arora, Senior Additional Advocate General, J& K High Court was the guest of honour whereas Bimal Magotra, Advisor JKCCA & a social activist was the special guest on this occasion.
The camp was a part of year long Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu, and dedicated to Prof. (Late) T S Batra, veteran artist , Former Principal, Institute of Music & Fine Arts (IMFA), Jammu. It may be mentioned here that Prof. (Late) T S Batra had participated in state, national and international level art exhibitions and art camps at different places in the country. He had been a Member of Central Committee of J& K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. The chief guest Sh. Suresh Kumar Gupta had a round of the paintings created during the camp
and interacted with all the participant artists. He appreciated the work created by all the artists during the camp. In his address. he appreciated the efforts made by JKCCA in organizing such an event. He said that his department is working for the promotion of all forms of art whether visual, literary or performing art forms. He added that the department will organize more events for that purpose in the coming days.
In his address, the guest of honour Ramesh Arora appreciated the contribution of Pt. Kewal K Sharma as President, Sh. O P Sharma as Director of JKCCA and other artists associated with the organization from a long time. He also put light on the works created by the artists and their role to make JKCCA stand stronger in the field of art, culture and literature. The special guest of the ceremony Bimal Magotra, Advisor & a social activist also expressed his views on this occasion. Earlier, welcoming the guests, O P Sharma, Director, JKCCA elaborated on the activities and programmes of Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts. He said that the centre is working for the progress, promotion and preservation of visual, literary and performing art forms. He added that the
centre would conduct art, culture & literary event every month throughout the year to acknowledge & celebrate the contribution of the creative people of J& K. Pt. Kewal K Sharma, President JKCCA, while speaking on this occasion introduced all the artists and gave a brief of their association for a long period with the centre in promoting art & culture in the region. Well known artists who participated in this camp included Dr. A K Dixit, New Delhi; Prof. Sunil Saxena, Lucknow; K S Gill and Dharminder Sharma, Amritsar; Jang S. Verman, O P Sharma, Ahok Mehta, Anil Saraf, Shakti Kumari and Mehak Sharma, Jammu. The camp was curated by O P Sharma renowned artist & Director, JKCCA.
