Drug smuggler booked under PIT NDPS Act in Sopore: Police

Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has booked a drug smuggler under PIT NDPS Act in Sopore after obtaining formal detention orders from competent authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the drug smuggler namely Showkat Ahmed Sofi S/o Abdul Sattar R/o Dangerpora, has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority, adding therein that the booked drug smuggler has been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.
Stating that many cases were registered against the said drug smuggler who was involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of the Police District Sopore and other areas of the district, the Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement said that people of the area have appreciated its role against drug smugglers. Police’ also reiterated its commitment to continue its efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse.
