Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested eight accused for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Baramulla and also seized 8 vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that police parties under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg, Pattan and Kreeri assisted by SHO Police Station Pattan/Kunzer, IC Police Post Kungamdara and Wagoora seized 8 vehicles (3 Tippers,4 Tractors, 1 Excavator) and alsi traction and transportation of minerals, adding therein that the said accused were identified as Zahoor Ahmad Malik S/o Mohd Abdullah R/o DrangbalBaramulla, Naveed Ahmad Dar S/o Gh Mohammad R/o JalSheeriBaramulla, Altaf Ahmad Lone S/o Ghulam Mohammad R/o NunerGanderbal, Mehraj Din Dar S/o MohdAltaf Dar R/o Kralpora, Arshid Ahmad WaniS/o Abdul HameedR/o ShirporaPattan, Aarif Ahmad Shah S/o Abdul Rashid R/o Khore Sherabad and Irshad Ahmad Kambay S/o Ghulam Mohi Ud Din R/o TakiyaBatpora.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered in respective police stations besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules. Police also warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
