6 drug peddlers arrested across Valley, Contraband/psychotropic substances & cash recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrests six drug peddlers and also recovered contraband/psychotropic substances and cash from their possession across Kashmir valley.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar a police party of Police Station Kunzer headed by SHO Police Station Kunzer at a checkpoint established at Nangerpora Kunzer, intercepted two suspects identified as Waseem Ahmad Parray S/o Mohd Akbar and Gh Mohd Dar S/o Mohd Maqbool, both residents of Yall Pattan and during search recovered 33 grams of Charas from their possession.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action in Sopore, a police party of Police Post Bus Stand headed by IC Police Post Bus Stand SI Basit Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Sopore at a checkpoint established at MRF Chowk Model Town Sopore, intercepted two suspects identified as Rayees Ahmad Sheikh S/o Khazir Mohammad Sheikh R/o Seelo Sopore and Siraj ud Din Parray S/o Mohammad Mukhtar Parray R/o Parrypora Hadipora Sopore while riding a motorcycle bearing registration number JK05F-7415 and during search recovered 216 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus, 70 grams of Charas and cash amount of ₹36,000 (proceeds of narcotics) from their possession besides recovering Motorcycle used in the commission of crime.
Police in its statement furthermore said Police Station Pulwama received inputs about one Khurshid Ahmad Lone S/o Mohd Sultan Lone R/o Pinglena having concealed Charas Powder at his residence following which a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pulwama and during the course of investigation recovered two transparent polythene bags apparently containing grinded charas powder in one bag and semi grinded in other, weighing 1 kg 56 gms and 1 kg 34 gms and subsequently the accused was arrested and investigation of the case is going on.
Stating that in Awantipora also a police party of Police Station Pampore headed by SHO Pampore at a checkpoint established at Gallander Crossing arrested a drug peddler Zubair Shafi Wani S/o Mohammad Shafi Wani R/o Tulbagh Pampore and during checking recovered 101 bottles of banned syrup (Corex Syrup) from his possession, the Police in its statement further said that all the arrested drug peddlers were shifted to respective police stations and cases under relevant sections of law were registered besides initiating investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
