Jerusalem: The Palestinian movement Hamas condemned the Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus and called on the UN Security Council to act actively to put an end to Israel’s aggression in the Gaza Strip.
On Monday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate general building in Syria’s Damascus killed two IRGC generals and five officers.
The movement said that it strongly condemned the Israeli attack, which targeted “Iranian diplomats and advisers.”
“We consider this attack a gross violation of international law and the sovereignty of Iran and Syria, as well as a serious escalation on the part of Israel,” Hamas said in a statement on Monday.
The movement also expressed full solidarity with Iran and Syria in connection with the “brutal Nazi aggression” and called on the UN Security Council to “take effective measures to contain the occupation and its criminal leaders” and stop Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and the region.
