5 gamblers arrested in B’la; Stake money also seized: Police

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested five gamblers in Baramulla and seized stake money and playing cards from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on a specific inputs about gambling activities in the orchards of Shajimarg, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Tangmarg under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg raided the specific spot and apprehended five gamblers identified as Mohammad Yaseen Parray S/o Bashir Ahmad Parray R/o Goigam, Mohammad Ashraf Rathi S/o Ab Ahad R/o Gutlipora, Gh Mohd Bhat S/o Ab Jabbar Bhat R/o Chanpora, Aijaz Ahmad Shah S/o Abdul Rahman R/o Kralseer & Nayeem Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ab Majeed R/o Pinjoora Kunzer, adding therein that stake money of ₹ 17910/- and playing cards were recovered from the possession of the said accused who were shifted to Police Station Tangmarg where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Tangmarg besides initiating further investigation, the Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement said that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
