Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested two suspects for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Sopore and also seized two vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the police party led by SHO Police Station Panzla under the supervision of incharge SDPO Rafiabad Dr. Hilal Ahmad Hilal assisted by mining department seized two vehicles (tractors) at Dachanpara Rafiabad besides arresting two drivers identified as Mohammad Yousuf Parray S/o Mohammad Sultan Parray R/o Wanpora Rohama Rafiabad and Sajad Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Rashid Dar R/o Rohama Rafiabad on the spot, for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from nala Vij.
Stating that the said accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, the Police in its statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Panzla besides initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules and warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
