Search for new VC Cluster University Srinagar begins, 3-yr term of incumbent VC ends in April

Srinagar: The search for the appointment of the new Vice-Chancellor for the Cluster University Srinagar (CUS) has started as the varsity has issued notification inviting application for the post.
The Registrar CUS has issued notification for inviting application from the eligible candidates following the constitution of a search committee by the Jammu and Kashmir government.
The three year term of the present VC of CUS Professor Qayyum Husain will expire in April this year. He was appointed VC on April 1 of 2021 for a period of three years. “The search committee has been constituted but the names of the committee members cannot be made public for some reasons,” a University official said.
“The candidates for the post of VC should be academic as well as administrative head besides a person of highest level of academic credentials, administrative competence, integrity, morals and institutional commitment,” reads the notification issued by Registrar CUS.
The notification reads that the candidate should be a visionary with proven leadership qualities as well as teaching and research credentials. “He/she should have outstanding academic record throughout and a minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Professor in a University system or in an equivalent position in reputed research and/or academic / administrative organisation,” it reads.
The candidate should not be more than 65 years of age as on the closing date of receipt of applications of this advertisement. “The post carries a pay of Rs. 2,10,000 (Fixed) per month with a special allowance of Rs.11,250 and other usual allowances,” the CUS notification reads.
It has further stated that the terms and conditions of the services will be those as set forth in the Act, Statutes and Regulations of the University. “Appointment will be made from a panel of candidates recommended by the Committee constituted under the provisions of the Srinagar and Jammu Cluster Universities Act, 2016,” the notification reads.
The candidates have been asked to submit their applications along with the detailed resume (in pdf format only) by or before April 20 of 2024.
“NoC from the parent organisation must also reach the office of the undersigned by or before the last date of submission of application. No hard copy shall be accepted,” the CUS notification reads
