Gamblers held in Pulwama, Stake money also seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested nine gamblers in Pulwama and later seized stake money and playing cards from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs about gambling activities at Saidpora area of Pulwama, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Pulwama raided the said place and arrested nine gamblers identified as Mohd. Abas Bhat S/o Mohd Akram Bhat & Ashiq Hussain Dar S/o Gh. Mohd Dar both residents of Arigam, Mohd Shameem Mir S/o Gh. Ahmed Mir R/o Patipora, Gulam Mohd Bhat S/o Ab. Wahab Bhat R/o Karimabad, Bashir Ahmed Ganaie S/o Gh. Mohd Ganaie R/o Pinjoora Shopian, Teja Singh S/o Gurcharan Singh R/o Saidpoora, Ab. Hameed Bhat S/o Gh. Mohd Bhat R/o Chitragam Shopian, Bilal Ahmed Dar S/o Gh. Mohd Dar R/o Below Pulwama, Mohd. Iqbal Mir S/o Gh. Mohd Mir R/o Pinglena Pulwama on the spot . Stating that the said accused were shifted to police station where they remain in custody and a stake money of Rs. 51,500/- and playing cards were recovered from them, Police in its statement further said that the said accused were shifted to police station where they remain in custody,adding therein that a case under FIR No. 57/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pulwama besides initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
