In one such unfortunate incident ,a girl child was lifted by a wild leopard yesterday in Hariwanen village who eventually lost her life .
Hakeem while expressing concern over the continued fatal attacks on civilians by man eater Leoperds in various areas of khansahib , has urged the government to take effective measures , on war footing basis , to eliminate these man- eater leopards roaming in various areas of Khansahib . He said people in the area are passing sleepless nights due to fear and were worried about safety of their lives. He said the peasants of the area were also scared to go to their fields for routine farming activities due to fear of leopard attacks.
PDF Chairman has urged the wildlife warden to deploy sufficient men and machinery to eliminate the herd of man eater leopards seen on prowl in the area. He said though some traps have been laid by the concerned department, these were not sufficient enough to eliminate these man eater leopards. PDP Chairman has urged the Deputy Commissioner, Budgam to provide adequate compensation in favour of the victims, at the earliest.
