Srinagar : A senior Border Security Force officer said on Friday that during important events like elections, the chances of infiltration from across are always high.
Inspector General of the BSF Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav, said on Friday that security forces were fully geared up for the challenges.
He said as many as 65 BSF companies have been inducted in the Kashmir Valley who will assist the Jammu and Kashmir Police to maintain law and order during the upcoming Parliament elections.
“65 companies of BSF have been inducted in Kashmir for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and have been deployed in the north Kashmir, south Kashmir, and central Kashmir ranges, working with the Jammu and Kashmir Police together,” he told reporters on Srinagar outskirts.
“The BSF and the JKP are making the security grid strong, and when the time for elections comes, the BSF will fully participate in providing security,” Yadav said.
He said there are so many BSF companies in the hinterland that will work with the Jammu and Kashmir Police during the elections.
He said the BSF is fully prepared to provide security for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Kashmir.
In reply to a question, the IG said that BSF is maintaining vigil on the Line of Control (LoC) with the Army. He said, “As the elections are coming nearer, the possibility of infiltration attempts from across the border rises.”.
“BSF is fully prepared and has dominated the area on the LoC to repulse any kind of infiltration attempt,” IG BSF said.
In reply to a question, he said the chances of infiltration from across the border always remain there, and during the important event, these chances are increasing. He said the BSF and Army always remain vigilant to deal with any kind of situation on the LoC.
Yadav said as the snow on the higher ridges starts to melt, the routes are becoming visible, due to which the chances of infiltration from across the border remain there.
He said, “The forces have already sorted out their plans at the time of snowing on how to deal with the situation when the routes of infiltration will open.”.
“We have made a vulnerability map on how to dominate the area, and the forces are ready to defeat any kind of infiltration attempt on the LoC,” he added.
