4 gamblers arrested in Sopore, Stake money also seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it arrested four gamblers in Sopore and seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that during the patrolling at village Nowpora Kalan, a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Fruit Mandi under the supervision of SDPO Sopore apprehended four gamblers identified as Abdul Majeed Dar S/o Ghulam Nabi Dar, Muhammad Yousuf Dar S/o Abdul Rehman Dar, Bashir Ahmad Dar S/o Sona Ullah Dar all residents of Nowpora Kalan Sopore and Farooq Ahmad Kundu S/o Abdul Rashid Kundu R/o Mohalla Telyan Sopore, adding therein that stake money of ₹23790/- and playing cards were recovered from the gamblers who were shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Sopore besides initiating further investigation, the Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
