Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested 3 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Baramulla headed by SHO Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Kanispora Chowk Baramulla, intercepted one Sheikh Hashmat S/o Altaf Sheikh R/o Malda West Bengal A/P Kanispora and during search recovered 20 grams of Brown Sugar like contraband substances from the possession of the saidaccused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Baramulla where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action, a police party of Police Station Kunzer headed by SHO Police Station Kunzer at a checkpoint established at Hardu Shoora Kunzer, intercepted two suspects identified as Nazir Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Ahmad Mir R/o Chukar Pattan & Riyaz Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Mohd Mir R/o Ratnipora Tangmarg and during search recovered 105 grams of Charas like contraband substances from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and shifted to Police Station Kunzer where they remain in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at police Station Baramulla and Kunzer besides initiating investigation, the Police
in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
