2 fraudsters involved in scamming people via social media arrested in Pulwama: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two fraudsters for being involved in scamming people via social media.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police Station Pulwama on Wednesday received an application from one Mehraj Ud Din Najar S/o Gh Hassan Najar R/o Dalipora who alleged therein that one Irfan Ahmad Bhat S/o Ab Rashid Bhat R/o Wadoora, Bomai Sopore has uploaded his old diseased photograph on his Facebook account and mentioned his own account number and phone number for the purpose of collecting money on his name.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 51/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered and subsequently investigation was also initiated, the Police
Said that during the course of investigation it came to fore that the two persons namely Irfan Ahmad Bhat S/o Ab Rahim Bhat R/o Wadoora Bomai Sopore and Juvenile (Name withheld) hatched a conspiracy to deceive the people by creating two Facebook accounts on the name of Sameer Tigers and Apna Sarkar and posted on them the old diseased photograph of complainant and mentioned their own account number and phone number and have collected money by deceitful means. Police in it’s statement further said that both the accused involved in the commission of crime were apprehended and further investigation is going on, adding therein that the accused Irfan Ahmad Bhat was taken into the police custody and a juvenile lodged in Juvenile home Harwan Srinagar.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people not to fall prey to such frauds and warned that whosoever found involved in uploading such posts shall be dealt as per law. Police on this occasion urged everyone to verify the credibility of any online appeal before making donations.
