Jammu : The special striking surveillance team, formed by the district administration, on Monday recovered an unaccounted cash of Rs eight lakh from a car during a special checking at the check-post.
The district administration on instructions of the Election Commission formed the surveillance team that had set up a special check-post on the Circular Road area of the city.
The team intercepted a car and during the search, cash worth Rs eight lakh was recovered from the vehicle, and it was seized on the spot, sources said.
They said that the car driver failed to respond to the queries about cash, following which a police team from Pacca Danga Police Station confiscated the cash in presence of the magistrate.
“The cash will be handed over to its owner only after investigating the matter,” they added.
