Absconder evading his arrest from 19 years, arrested in Awantipora: Police

Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it in Awantipora it has arrested an absconder who was evading his arrest from the last 19 years in case FIR No. 54/2004 of PS Awantipora.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that warrant under section 512 CrPC issued by Court of Principal Session Judge Pulwama pending with Police Station Awantipora against an accused ely Mohammad Yousuf Sofi S/o Gh Rasool Sofi R/o Panzgam was executed, adding therein that the said accused evading his arrest for the last 19 years for being involved in case FIR NO. 54/2004 of Police Station Awantipora was arrested by a special Police team under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti (SP) and consisting of SHO Awantipora Inspector Zahoor Ahmed among others. Stating that the said accused was produced before the Court of Law, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement said that consistent actions against anti-social elements are taken to reassure people that efforts are on to keep society free of crime and resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities.
