Drug peddler arrested in Kulgam, Contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Qazigund, Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that following inputs about drug peddling activities a police party of Police Station Qazigund established a special checkpoint at Bonigam crossing near NHW Qazigund and during checking intercepted a suspect Maqsood Ahmad Naikoo S/o Sonauallah Naikoo R/o Nassu Badragund carrying a nylon bag from whom 4 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered. Stating that the said accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that a case under FIR number 79/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund besides initiating investigation into the case.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward or Dial 112 with any inputs about drug peddling/anti-social activity in their vicinity and extend their cooperation to it in eradicating the drug menace from the society.
