Jammu: Police on Thursday slapped Public Safety Act on three hardcore criminals anddetained one under PTINDDPS Act in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Vinay Kumar said that in a significant move to combat criminal activities and drug trafficking in the district, three hardcore criminals were apprehended under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA).
The individuals, identified as Kunal Teji of BanTalab, Samba, Devinder Singh alias Deepu of Kehli Mandi Samba and Sourav Singh Nagra of Chak Salaria tehsil Ramgarh District Samba, have been involved in multiple criminal cases, posing a serious threat to public peace and tranquility, said the SSP.
He added that following their repeated engagement in criminal activities, detention orders were issued by the District Magistrate Samba based on detailed dossiers prepared by him.
The police teams successfully executed these warrants, leading to the incarceration of the accused in District Jail Kathua and District Jail Jammu respectively.
Additionally, with aim at curbing the illicit drug trade, Samba Police detained a notorious heroin supplier, Abdul Habib alias Bheem, resident of Ladana tehsil Ramnagar district Udhampur, presently staying at Badheri, Nanak Chak tehsil annd district Samba, under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act.
Abdul Habib, known for spreading drug addiction within the community, was swiftly detained and confined to District Jail Kathua following the issuance of a detention order by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.
This successful operation marks a significant step towards ensuring the safety and well-being of the public and signifies Samba Police’s resolute stance against narcotics trafficking in the area, said the SSP.
