New Delhi, March 22:  After a day-long delay, Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on his journey to Bhutan today, resuming his postponed two-day official visit originally delayed by adverse weather conditions in the region.

To reinforce the partnership between India and Bhutan, Prime Minister Modi expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “On the way to Bhutan, where I will be attending various programmes aimed at further cementing the Indo-Bhutan partnership. I look forward to talks with Majesty the King of Bhutan, His Majesty Fourth Druk Gyalpo and Prime Minister @tsheringtobgay.”

Scheduled discussions with Bhutanese leaders, including His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, underscore the depth and breadth of Indo-Bhutan relations across political, economic, and cultural spheres.

The India-Bhutan Agreement on Trade, Commerce, and Transit, has significantly bolstered bilateral trade, with India emerging as Bhutan’s principal trade partner.

Moreover, India’s steadfast support in Bhutan’s socio-economic development, spanning infrastructure projects to capacity-building initiatives, exemplifies the essence of South-South cooperation.

The visit reciprocates the recent engagement between the two nations, with Bhutanese Prime Minister Tobgay extending the invitation to Prime Minister Modi during his visit to India last week. Prime Minister Modi readily accepted, emphasizing the enduring friendship and cooperation shared between India and Bhutan.

As Prime Minister Modi’s visit unfolds, it is poised to reinvigorate the multifaceted India-Bhutan relationship, reaffirming their shared commitment to mutual prosperity, security, and well-being amid evolving geopolitical dynamics. T

His diplomatic voyage not only underscores the strategic significance of the Indo-Bhutan partnership but also sets the stage for deeper collaboration in the years ahead, marking yet another milestone in the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
