3 gamblers arrested in Sopore, stake money also seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested three gamblers in Sopore and seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs about gambling activities in the orchards of village Reban, a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Fruit Mandi under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir raided the specific spot and arrested three gamblers identified as Mohammad Akbar Sheikh S/o Abdullah Sheikh R/o Hadipora, Sajad Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Kabir R/o Parrypora Hadipora and Bashir Ahmad Tantray S/o Mohammad Subhan Tantray R/o Reban on spot. Police in its statement further said that stake money of Rs. 7160/- and playing cards were recovered from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 54/2024 was registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Sopore besides initiating further investigation, the Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
