Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has seized two vehicles used for illegal mining of minerals and also arrested two drivers in Kulgam district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by SHO Police Station DH Pora seized 2 vehicles (tractors) and arrested 2 drivers for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Kandi Nala, near Sarmarg. Besides, adding therein that the said accused drivers have been identified as Mohd Asif Malik S/o Mohd Ashraf Malik and Nadeem Ahmad Malik S/o Ghulam Ahmad Malik, both residents of DK Marag.
Stating that a case under FIR No 22/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station DH Pora besides initiating further investigation, the Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules but warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
