Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party from Police Station Pahalgam laid down a naka near Higher Secondary School Kullar and intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK02AR-9633 and JK02CJ-3995 and during search recovered about 90 Kgs of Poppy Straw, adding therein that during their personal search police party also recovered Rs. 39,000 cash from their possession.
Stating that drivers of the said vehicles identified as Ubaid Gulzar Lone S/o Gulzar Ahmad Lone and Aijaz Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Jabbar Bhat both residents of Taki Maqsood Shah Bijbehara were arrested on spot and later, the accused were shifted to police station where they remain in custody , Police in it’s statement further said that vehicles used in the commission of crime were also seized besides which a case under FIR No. 08/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pahalgam further investigations are underway.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that poeple found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
