Srinagar: In a momentous stride towards upholding the ethos of meritocracy and ensuring the highest standards of governance, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has bestowed the esteemed responsibility of chairing the Public Service Commission (PSC) upon A K Choudhary. This landmark decision, empowered by the provisions of Section 93 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, signifies a pivotal juncture in the state’s journey towards administrative excellence.
Choudhary, a stalwart in the Indian Police Service of the 1991 batch, embodies a legacy of distinguished service and unwavering commitment to public welfare. His appointment stands as a testament to his sterling reputation for integrity, professionalism, and exceptional leadership, garnered over a career spanning more than three decades. The inauguration of Choudhary’s tenure as Chairman of the JKPSC was marked by a solemn ceremony held at the esteemed Raj Bhavan, where he took the oath of office under the auspices of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha. His pledge to uphold the principles of transparency, impartiality, and diligence underscores his steadfast dedication to fostering a culture of excellence within the Commission.
Having previously served in key positions within the Jammu and Kashmir Police, including his recent tenure as the Special Director-General of Police (Crime), Choudhary brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. His deep-rooted understanding of the state’s socio-political dynamics, coupled with his unwavering commitment to public service, positions him as an exemplary leader poised to drive meaningful change. In his last address in Police department, Choudhary offered poignant reflections on his journey within the J&K Police, acknowledging the challenges and triumphs that have shaped his trajectory.
He paid homage to the indomitable spirit and camaraderie among the police fraternity, recognizing it as a cornerstone of their collective success. Expressing heartfelt gratitude to his colleagues and collaborators for their unwavering support, Choudhary reiterated his steadfast commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. His pledge to remain accessible and responsive to the needs of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Pariwar reaffirms his deep-seated ethos of service and solidarity. Choudhary’s appointment has garnered widespread acclaim from stakeholders across the spectrum, who laud his humility, accessibility, and exemplary track record. As he assumes the mantle of leadership at the JKPSC, stakeholders express optimism for the transformative impact he is poised to effectuate. Under Choudhary’s stewardship, the JKPSC is poised to embark on a new chapter characterized by greater efficiency, transparency, and accountability. His leadership is anticipated to catalyze meaningful reforms aimed at modernizing recruitment processes and enhancing the quality and diversity of the state’s civil service cadre. As Jammu and Kashmir strides towards a new era of administrative excellence, Choudhary’s appointment serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, embodying the unwavering commitment to service and integrity that defines the state’s ethos. In him, stakeholders find a visionary leader poised to navigate the Commission towards greater heights of excellence and achievement.
