Rainfed Area Dev Prog: Farmers’ Orientation camp on HADP held at Kishtwar

Kishtwar: A one Day farmers’ orientation cum training programme on Rainfed Area Development program was held on Wednesday in the zonal office Kishtwar.
More than 70 farmers participated in the programme inaugurated by Chief Agriculture Officer, AmjadHussain Malik in the presence of District Agriculture Officer, Sanjay Kumar Sharma and Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Paddar, Dheeraj Singh.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Agriculture Officer highlighted the importance of Rainfed Areas Development training programme which will enhance the capability of participating farmers in crop production and changing climatic conditions. He briefed on a range of schemes of the Agriculture Department like HADP, CSS, PM-Kisan, Soil Health Cards, Farm mechanization etc.
While focusing on HADP, he exhorted the farmers to apply through the online portal for getting benefits for different farm sector entrepreneurship schemes. “HADP is a game changer for the farming community which provides employment opportunities to the unemployed youths as well as rural women” he added.
He also asked them to register on the Daksh and Sathi portal of HADP to get more information regarding the scheme.
Later, the farmers were given a detailed briefing on the cultivation of crops suited for Rainfed Areas in the context of District Kishtwar.
Subject Matter Specialist, Jatinder Singh asked the farmers to adopt and adjust the cropping pattern in the changing climatic conditions and cultivate crops which are suited to the changing environment..
The farmers were further sensitized about roof top water harvesting and rain water harvesting techniques for storage of water to provide life saving irrigation to the crops. It was informed that there is a provision of subsidy in HADP for constructing the water harvesting tanks at farm level.
DAO Sanjay Kumar Sharma asked the farmers to come forward to get 50% -90% Subsidy in HADP projects in all sectors of Crop husbandry from Crop production to animal rearing and all other sectors.
The programme was held as per the direction of District Development Commissioner, Dr. DevanshYadav and guidance of Director Agriculture Jammu, S. A S Reen and overall supervision of Chief Agriculture Officer.
Manzoor Ahmed, SDAO Marwah also delivered a lecture on integrated farming systems for sustainable Agriculture development, particularly construction of vermicompost units etc. JamshedDev (SMS-DL) briefed about the benefits of PM-Kissan, KCC, PradhanMantriFasalBimaYojana etc. to change the livelihood of Farming community.
The staff members of Zonal Office Kishtwar also participated in the programme and assured the farmers of all possible assistance in getting the HADP subsidy under various projects.
The farmers showed keen interest in the training camps & put forth various suggestions/queries that were addressed by Chief Agriculture Officer Kishtwar on spot. Programme organizer, AEO Kishtwar presented the vote of thanks.
