4-drug peddler arrested across Kashmir, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Budgam, Kulgam and Baramulla districts.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Budgam, a police party of Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established at Sadipora intercepted a vehicle (Auto) bearing registration number JK013-6836 driven by one Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh S/o Habibullah Sheikh R/o Samboora Pulwama and during search recovered 534 grams of charas like substance in grinded form and six Charas Sticks wrapped in Corn husk weighing about 115 grams from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police station where he remains in custody besides which the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Police in its statement further said that in Kulgam district also, a police party led by SHO Police Station Yaripora under supervision of DySP PC Hatipura at a specific checkpoint established at Yaripora near Sunmen Bridge intercepted two suspects identified as Samandeep Singh S/o Badur Singh and Kamaljeet Kaur D/o Santook Singh both residents of Talwandi Mallia and during search recovered 20 grams of brown sugar like contraband substance from the possession of the said accused who were arrested and shifted to Police Station Yaripora and Women Cell Kulgam where they remain in custody.
Police in its statement furthermore said that in a similar action in Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Bijhama headed by SHO Police Station Bijhama at a checkpoint established at Noorkhah, intercepted one Dilshad Ahmad War S/o Gh Qadir R/o Lachipora and during search recovered 70 grams of contraband Charas like substances from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Bijhama where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides intiating further investigations into the cases, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
