CUK launches UG Honors progs

Ganderbal : Setting a new standard for undergraduate education and research integration, the Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) announces admission through CUET (UG)-24 for its various undergraduate Honors and Honors with Research programmes. According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office CUK here, unlike traditional 3-year undergraduate programmes, these innovative Bachelor’s degree in Honors/Honors with Research programmes of 4 years will be offered by the University as per Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes (CCFUG) as envisaged by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under NEP-2020. The admission test, CUET(UG)-24, is being conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) through Central Admission Portal.
The programmes offered by CUKashmir include B. Sc. Hons/Hons. with research in, Biotechnology, Zoology, Physics, Mathematics; BA LLB; B.A (Hons) English, B.Com. (Hons) and BBA (Hons). University is offering Single Major Discipline option for Honors Program. For the first time CUKashmir intends to offer B.A., Honors in English, Commerce and BBA Honors in Management Studies. Students have flexibility of multiple entry and multiple exit with an option for one-year Certificate, two-year Diploma, three-year Degree and four year Honors/Honors with Research programs. Besides they can proceed for one or two-year PG and three year Ph.D. degree with specific riders.
Describing the launch of these programmes as a pioneering initiative in higher education, the university Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, said that these programmes emphasize hands-on research, critical inquiry, team work and scholarly exploration, preparing students to excel in both academic and professional pursuits. CUKashmir Vice-Chancellor, further said, “We are committed to push the boundaries of education and empower students to become leaders and change makers in their respective fields. The idea is to ignite their imagination, enrich their knowledge and empower them with education and wisdom to excel at all levels. The admission through CUET by NTA will also help students get admission in other Universities across the country”. He added that, the university enables the students to gain exposure, experience and expertise through internship embedded academic programmes.
About these programmes, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Shahid Rasool, said that we have redesigned our curriculum in tune with NEP-2020, to provide students with a unique and immersive research experience from the very beginning of their academic journey. “With these ground breaking programmes, we are not only redefining the contours of higher education in our university but also shaping the future of our younger generation as contributors for development of the nation.” he added.
The online submission of application forms has started from 27th of February and will culminate on 26th March, 2024. The students aspiring to seek admission in the Central University of Kashmir can get further details about these courses from the university website www.cukashmir.ac.in.
