Capacity Building Prog on Juvenile Justice, POCSO, Child Rights held in G’bal

Ganderbal: In a significant step towards enhancing awareness and understanding of Juvenile Justice, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), and child rights, District Social Welfare Office in collaboration of District Administration organized a comprehensive training cum capacity building programme at the auditorium of Boys Higher Secondary Schools Ganderbal.
The event, spearheaded by the Child Protection Unit of Mission Vatsalya in District Ganderbal, aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to implement and uphold the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015, POCSO Act 2012, and child rights.
During the day-long programme, stakeholders were provided with comprehensive training, so that they can better understand the unique needs of juveniles, legal framework governing juvenile justice and best practices in rehabilitation and reintegration.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir who was present on the occasion, while addressing the participants, emphasized the critical importance of the topics discussed during the training. He acknowledged the substantial progress witnessed in the district in these areas and urged all participants to translate the acquired knowledge into practical implementation within the community.
He also highlighted the pressing need to address challenges specific to Ganderbal and proposed the adoption of a targeted strategy to effectively tackle them. He affirmed that the success of the training lies not only in disseminating information but also in ensuring its application within the local context.
The DC encouraged participants to actively engage in discussions, clear doubts, and contribute to the effective implementation of the laws and principles discussed.
The event was a collaborative effort, bringing together professionals, educators, and community members to foster a collective responsibility towards the well-being of children.
By providing a platform for dialogue and learning, the training aimed to empower individuals with the tools needed to create a safer and more protective environment for the children of Ganderbal.
As the knowledge gained during the training holds the potential to positively impact society, the District Commissioner called for continued collaboration and commitment from all stakeholders. The success of the programme is anticipated to contribute significantly to the broader mission of ensuring the welfare and protection of children in Ganderbal.
Among others, the Capacity Building program was attended by District Child Protection Officer, Muzafar Ahmad Malik, DySPGanderbal, Principal Boys Higher Sec School, Chairperson Child Welfare Committee and other officials of District Child Protection Unit.
