Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam and Baramulla districts of J&K and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Village Wanpora Qazigund intercepted a suspect carrying a nylon bag identified as Ajaz Ahmad S/o Abdul Sattar Bhat R/o Khargund Qazigund who tried to flee from the spot after noticing the police party but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during search, 4 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said that in a similar action in Baramulla, a Police party of Police Station Pattan headed by SHO Police Station Pattan at a checkpoint established at Kalsari Pattan near Grid Station, intercepted a suspect identified as Adil Ahmad Tantray S/o Mohammad Maqbool R/o Aram Mohalla Pattan and during search, 67 grams of Charas were recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Pattan where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement further said that a Police party of Police Station Kreeri headed by SHO Police Station Kreeri under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri at a checkpoint established at Tapper Bala, intercepted a suspect identified as Amir Altaf Pala S/o Mohd Altaf R/o Krankshivan Sopore and during search recovered 376 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Kreeri where he remain in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations , Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
