Doda: The International women’s day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and zeal in the Community Hall Doda here on Thursday.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Pran Singh presided over the function as chief guest, while Project Officer ICDS Paramjeet Singh was the special guest of honour.
District Social Welfare officer, Parisha besides other officers and staff of the social welfare department were also present at the function featuring a scintillating cultural programs including dance performances, songs, and poetry recitations by women from different walks of life.
An exhibition of stalls was also set up, showcasing products made by women entrepreneurs and self-help groups. Visitors had the opportunity to buy handmade crafts, clothes, supporting the livelihood of these women.
A skit, highlighting the challenges and struggles faced by women in society breaking stereotypes and advocating for women’s rights, was a major highlight. The audience was deeply moved by the powerful performance and applauded the artists for their dedication and commitment.
The ADDC, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the role and importance of women in nation building. He said Doda District has done well in Beti Bachao Beti Padhao by organizing a series of activities and it is achieved due to active participation of all stakeholders especially women folk.
Several women achievers were felicitated for their outstanding contributions in various fields, inspiring the younger generation to strive for excellence and follow their dreams.
Talk show discussion was held on women’s issues, addressing topics such as gender discrimination and domestic violence, education, and employment opportunities for women.
Participants engaged in a meaningful dialogue, sharing their opinions and ideas on how to create a more inclusive and equal society for women.
Painting exhibition was also organized to showcase the artistic talents of women in the community.
The celebration of International Women’s Day was a resounding success, bringing together women from diverse backgrounds to celebrate their achievements and advocate for gender equality. It was a day filled with joy, empowerment, and solidarity, emphasizing the importance of women’s rights and the need for continued efforts to create a more just and equitable world for all.
Similarly, the Social welfare Department Bhaderwah in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority celebrated the day at Bhaderwah by hosting a colourful function based on the theme “Beti Bachao,Beti Padhao ”.
DDC member, Youdhvir Singh Thakur was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC member Youdhvir Singh highlighted different aspects of women empowerment and their rights. He said that women should be given equal status and respect in all fields.
Child Development project officer, Farat Shameem Khan, Principal HSS Boys Dr. Nazir Ahmad, Social Welfare Officer Subash Chander, Majid Malik, Javid Ahmed ITI and Arif Rana from education Department were also Present on the occasion.
Girl students of different educational institutions of the district spoke on the significance of “Beti Bachao Beti Padho” campaign.
