Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested five suspects for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in district Kulgam and also seized four vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Devsar seized three vehicles (Tractors) and arrested three persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Devsar. Police in it’s statement further said that a police party of Police Station DH Pora arrested two suspects and also seized a vehicle (Truck) for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Nallah Vaishow.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective Police Stations besides initiating further investigation into the cases, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Police in it’s statement also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
