2- Day Int’l Conference on Health, Fitness, Yoga and Sports Science culminates at GDC Kathua

Kathua: The two day International Conference on Health, Fitness, Yoga and Sports Science organized by IQAC & Department of Physical Education & Sports, in Collaboration with the Foundation for Global Community Health, USA through hybrid mode, concluded on Wednesday at Government Degree College Kathua.
The maiden International Conference witnessed physical participation of more than 250 Indian and foreign delegates and eminent speakers from around the globe, while several others joined through the virtual platform.
The international conference, the first of this kind in J&K, highlighted the role and essence of sports science, yoga and nutrition in fitness and overall health of the community in the new post-Covid era.
The second day of the International Conference commenced with an interactive session with faculty members by eminent Global personality and keynote speaker Dr. Ming Kai Chin, President and Founder of the Foundation for Global Community Health, USA. He emphasized physical activity sports and social-emotional health as important components of health and wellness. Dr. Ming urged the faculties and students to work for the community to curb global health issues through awareness.
The interactive session was followed by an invited lecture session in which Dr.OlenaYarmoliuk, HOD, Physical Education and Pedagogy, KYIV University Ukraine focused on the importance of Artificial intelligence in physical education and the role of physical and sports science on overall well-being. Later, Dr.ZornitzaMladenova, Senior Future Leader, GCH, USA highlighted a holistic approach to physical activity, emotional stability and nutrition for the attainment of overall well-being.
Later, two parallel technical sessions of Paper Presentation and Poster Presentation were conducted in which 13 delegates presented their research and deliberated on various aspects of Health, Fitness, Yoga & Sports Science, whereas 24 delegates displayed their research findings through posters.
The sessions were chaired by Dr.PragyaKhanna, GLDC, Hiranagar, and Dr.Sangeeta Sudan, GDC, Mahanpur, whereas. Co-chaired by Prof. Raj Kiran, HOD Physics, GDC, Billawar.
Delivering an invited lecture, Dr. Pinar Yaprak, Assistant Professor, Gazi University Turkey presented her research work on sports fields, social issues and development: Neglected cultural heritage and reconstructing future. She emphasized improving understanding of social problems and solutions in the sports field.
Dr.GouravVaid, Senior Physiotherapist and founder of SwasthyaShastra, Jammu focused on the role of physiotherapy in our day-to-day lives, health and fitness.
At last, a valedictory session was organised to formally conclude the International Conference in which SSP, KathuaShivdeep Singh Jammwal, was the Chief Guest. In his address, he focused on sports science and nutrition as needs of the hour for overall health. He appreciated the tireless efforts made by the organizing team, Dr. J. S. Soodan, HOD, department of Physical Sciences & Sports and Faculty of GDC, Kathua for successfully holding this conference of international repute. He also congratulated Prof. Seema Mir, Principal, GDC, Kathua for the success of the first international conference of such kind with relevance to all the sectors of the community.
The conference report was presented by the convener sports Board, Prof. ShivaniKotwal, Associate professor and Head of Department, English, whereas, the formal Vote of thanks was presented by Prof. R. K. Pandita, Head of Department, Zoology.
