Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and Kulgam besides recovering contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party of Police Post Delina headed by In Charge Police Post Delina under the supervision of Dy SP HqrsBaramulla at a checkpoint established at Delina Market intercepted one Aqib Nazir Malik S/o Nazir Ahmad Malik R/o Sangrama Sopore and during search, recovered 72 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus psychotropic substances were recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Baramulla where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement further said that in a similar action in Kulgama a police party headed by SHO Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Dalwach crossing intercepted one Mohammad Ramzan Lone S/o Wali Mohd Lone R/o Hawoora, who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and during search recovered 4 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance filled in the nylon bag was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigation , Police
in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated it’s commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
