Illegal properties worth lacs acquired by a drug peddler attached in B’la: Police

Srinagar: Police in Baramulla on Friday attached properties (double-storied residential house and vehicles worth apprx. Rupees 36 lacs) belonging to drug peddlers namely Mohd Zahid Shah (Geelani) S/o Peer Hussain Shah R/o Basgran Uri, Ahtisham-ud-Din Khan S/o Bashir Ahmad R/o Ladoora Rafiabad and Reyaz Ahmad Ganie S/o Gh Hassan R/o Batangi Boniyar. Police has also seized vehicles include two i20 cars bearing registration No. JK01AK-2765 & JK05G-5682, Scooty bearing registration number JK05G-0116 from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the action was taken by the Police under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act of 1985 and were linked with case FIR No. 54/2022 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act of PS Uri, case FIR No. 71/2023 u/s 8/21-29 NDPS Act of PS Sheeri& case FIR No. 352/2023 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Pattan. Police in it’s statement further said that the properties were identified as illegally acquired properties during the course of investigation, adding therein that the properties were prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the drug peddlers.
In the concluding para of it;s above quoted statement Police reaffirmed its commitment to combat the drug menace.
