ADM Kathuai mposes Rupees 5.35 lac fine on traders for violation of FSS Act- 2006

Kathua: The Adjudicating Officer and Additional District Magistrate Kathua, Ranjit Singh penalized several Food Business Operators (FBOs) for violating the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006.
The Court imposed a substantial fine of Rs 5.35 lakh on multiple manufacturers, wholesale dealers, and retailers across Bani, Basohli and Kathua blocks—marking the highest recorded penalties in the district.
The fines were issued in response to contraventions of the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006 by traders in the specified areas.
Emphasizing the significance of complying with legal regulations in the food industry, the ADM, acting as the Adjudicating Officer, issued stern warnings to erring FBOs. He urged them to adhere to the Food Safety and Standards Act and its associated rules, cautioning that future non-compliance would result in more severe consequences.
The Adjudicating Officer directed the Concerned Enforcement Agency to take decisive action against the violators. This directive aims to ensure the delivery of wholesome and safe food to consumers through rigorous enforcement of the regulatory framework.
The imposition of substantial fines serves as a deterrent, reinforcing the authorities’ commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of consumers in the district.
