Distt Admin hosts mega Job Fair at B’la

32 Job seekers provided on-spot job letters, 123 shortlisted for further recruitment process

Baramulla : In an endeavour to foster employment opportunities, entrepreneurial endeavors, and skill enhancement, the District Administration Baramulla in collaboration with Employment Department, Baramulla and Skill Development Department on Wednesday organised a Job Fair/Rozgar Mela under SANKALP at Govt Polytechnic College Baramulla.
The Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Syed Qamar Sajad, in presence of Chief Planning Officer Baramulla, Javaid Ahmad and General Manager, District Industries Centre Baramulla, Nighat Alam inaugurated this multifaceted event aimed to connect job seekers with a diverse array of employers, departments implementing self-employment schemes, and skill training institutes under one roof.
The Rozgar Mela featured participation of 22 renowned companies spanning local, national, and international employers such as Sulaiman Al Habib Hospitals (Saudi Arabia), HDFC Bank, LIC India, WEPS Civil Aviation, Axis Bank, Himalayan, PNB MetLife, among others, representing diverse industries including health, aviation, manufacturing, insurance, and IT others collectively offered over 2900 job vacancies to the district’s youth.
A total of 729 Job seekers hailing from different corners of the district participated in the placement drive in which after rigorous interview and vetting process 32 candidates were handed over on-spot job letters while 123 candidates including 43 for overseas jobs were shortlisted for the next round of interviews.
Besides the job fair, government departments viz. Employment Department, District Industries, Handicraft/Handloom, KVIB participated in the event, providing invaluable guidance and supporting self-employment schemes to aspiring entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, interactive sessions were conducted by industry experts and skill training institutes to the aspirants offering practical insights into skill development and career enhancement where attendees gained valuable knowledge on emerging trends and skill upgradation courses.
Speaking during the event, the ADDC appreciated the Employment department for organizing this placement drive in an aim to provide opportunities and empower the youth to take proactive steps towards realizing their career goals.
The ADDC while distributing the offer letters to the youth congratulated them for successfully securing employment.
Qamar Sajad further reiterated that the district administration remains steadfast in its commitment to providing employment opportunities to the youth, whether through the private sector or by fostering avenues for self-employment.
