Srinagar : In a special event held in Mumbai, Rj Umar Nisar was honored with UNICEF’s #Radio4Child Award for 2024. The award was presented by Ayushmann Khurrana, UNICEF Celebrity supporter, and national brand ambassador, in the presence of representatives from UN, UNICEF, and key figures from the radio and media industry.
Originally from Tral in Pulwama district, South Kashmir, Umar started his radio journey at the age of 12. He’s been a strong advocate for child rights, climate change, immunization, mental health, and youth development. This marks his second consecutive year receiving the UNICEF award, showcasing his ongoing dedication to impactful broadcasting.
Umar currently hosts the “Mashq Talks” radio podcast in Kashmir, addressing important issues in the region. Expressing his joy, he said, “I’m very happy and proud of the accomplishments which UNICEF acknowledged. I firstly dedicate this award to my mother for all the unconditional support throughout my life.” This heartfelt dedication underscores the personal significance of the award and his gratitude to his mother’s unwavering support.
