Mining Deptt seizes 6 trucks for gypsum theft at Kathua

Kathua : A total of six trucks loaded with gypsum were seized by Geology and Mining department for illegal transportation of mineral at Lakhanpur toll post here on Thursday.
During routine checking at Lakhanpur, District Mineral Officer (DMO) Rajinder Singh along with mineral guards detained six trucks due to non-production of legal documents as required under rules which were later on seized after giving opportunity to drivers for producing documents and other proof of evidence in their defence.
It was informed that all seized trucks after legal formalities were handed over to police post Lakhanpur and shall remain in its custody till realization of penalty and other penal action in Joint Director Office Jammu.
DMO further informed that the trucks were loaded with gypsum in Samba areas and were on their way towards Punjab but they were not carrying any valid documents with them which are required to transport mineral from one location to other.
After seizing the trucks Deputy Commissioner Kathua and Director Geology and Mining, J&K were immediately apprised about illegal transportation of gypsum from the mining leases and also from the premises of unauthorized dealers who supply such mineral in violation of rules.
