DC Ramban reviews progress of Banking Sector, Directs Focus on Priority Sector

Ramban: While reviewing the performance of banks during the District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting here, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-HaqChaudhary directed bankers to prioritize the focus on the priority sector to achieve the targets.
Earlier, the meeting was informed that Rs. 273.70 crores were expended on the priority sector against a target of Rs. 586 crores, i.e., 47% of ACP 2023-24 ending December 2023. Additionally, Rs. 245.97 crores have been disbursed against the target of Rs. 65.38 crores, which is 376% under the Non-Priority Sector in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the LDM and Cluster Head of banks to fix the responsibility of concerned bankers for not achieving the targets under the priority sector. He also directed the officers of sponsoring departments to follow up on the action taken by the banks on loan cases to facilitate the youth with benefits of various job-oriented schemes in different sectors across the district.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the timely disbursement of loan cases, besides implementing all other youth and employment-oriented schemes by achieving the 100% targets under different segments of priority sector schemes like PMEGP, CCS for Artisans PM-VISHWAKARMA, MUMKIN, JK REGP, TEJSWANI, Agriculture, MSME, Housing, and Education in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Tehsildars and BDOs to organize special camps for uncovered individuals in their respective jurisdictions to saturate Aadharenrollment. He further directed them to coordinate with the Programme Officer, ICDS, and CEO Ramban for organizing Aadharenrollment camps.
The DC also directed bankers to ensure immediate Aadharupdation of beneficiaries covered under various Government schemes in NPCI. He also directed bankers, especially the cluster head of J&K Bank, to organize meetings of bankers at the Sub-division level to implement all the schemes of the priority sector, especially those meant for the weaker sections.
The Deputy Commissioner also took stock of the bank-wise deposits, advances, and the CD Ratio targets. It was informed in the meeting that the CD Ratio registered an increase of 6.40% and stood at 66.74% until the end of December 2023.
Highlighting the importance of awareness activities in implementing various job-oriented schemes, the DC advised the LDM and other departments to prepare a calendar of activities for organizing awareness programs to disseminate information about their schemes, especially pertaining to youth and women folk.
The meeting was attended by the CPO, Shakeeb Ahmed, GM DIC RavinderAnand, ACD SrinathSuman, ACR S. Harpal Singh, Lead District Manager Abdul Rashid Sofi, Cluster Head JK Bank Parvez Mir, DDM NABARD Arushi Sharma, Tehsils, BDOs, CHO Anil Gorka, AD Fisheries Fayaz Ahmed, bankers, and various senior officers.
