Jammu: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday lauded the transformative leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, hailing the historic move on 5th August 2019 as the liberation of Jammu and Kashmir from seven decades of suffering.
Under Prime Minister Modi’s visionary approach, the region has witnessed liberation from the shackles of injustice, separatism, militancy, and corruption, emerging as a beacon of socio-economic empowerment.
Sinha highlighted the remarkable journey of Jammu and Kashmir, now poised as a new role model for progress and development, symbolizing a brighter future for its residents.
Lt. Governor said that the whole world is witness to the fact that the Prime Minister has given every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir, the right to live as per their wish in the past five years.
“Militancy related incidents have reduced by 75% and local recruitment has ended. The strike calendars have stopped being published. The administration is now publishing the calendar of education and employment. Stone pelting has now become a thing of the past,” he said.
LG Sinha said markets and schools remain open throughout the year. The common man is enjoying night life in Kashmir Valley. In the districts where, earlier, there used to be fear in the evenings, now cinema halls and restaurants are running till late night.
“Jammu and Srinagar cities are being seen as new models of urban transformation,” he added.
Earlier he welcomed and complimented Prime Minister, Narendra Modi ji, the architect of new India and ned Jammu and Kashmir, to the city of temples, Jammu.
LG Sinha said the Prime Minister had inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 20,000 crore during the program in Samba in April 2022. The Prime Minister would lay the foundation stone and inaugurate historic development projects worth Rs 32,247 crore,” he said.
“Other schemes worth Rs 20,000 crore will be completed in the coming four months. By March, other projects worth about Rs 60,000 crore will be completed and dedicated to welfare and development of common citizens,” the Lt Governor said.
“ The overall comprehensive transformation and the hustle and bustle of development in every corner of Jammu & Kashmir is a visible proof of the Prime Minister towards building a glorious, developed Jammu and Kashmir, ” he said.
LG Sinha emphasized that the Prime Minister has successfully championed social justice, equality, and inclusive development within a remarkably brief span of five years.
Refugees from Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and West Pakistan have finally attained social justice after decades, with their ownership rights on land and property now being safeguarded, he said.
“The Prime Minister’s initiatives have empowered Dalits, tribals, backward classes, women, and other vulnerable sections of society socially, economically, and politically.
Notably, approximately 1.25 crore deprived individuals have been integrated into the mainstream of development. In a historic move, reservation of seats for Other Backward Classes in Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies has been implemented for the first time, and the timely conduct of elections to Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies is guaranteed, LG Sinha said.
He highlighted that a significant stride towards women’s empowerment has been taken by reserving 33% of seats for the female fraternity. Additionally, the Scheduled Tribe reservation has been expanded to include Pahari, Padari, Koli, and Gadda Brahmins. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for this landmark decision.
Simultaneously, LG Sinha underscored the Prime Minister’s commitment to preserving the interests of Gujjar, Bakarwal, Gaddi, Sippy, and other tribes. The Prime Minister’s dedication to social harmony is evident in ensuring these communities maintain the same reservation as before, exemplifying a commitment to inclusivity and equitable representation, he said.
Lt. Governor said that the participation of 42 lakh citizens in the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra has ensured that the vehicle guaranteed by the Prime Minister reaches every family with the benefits of all the schemes.
“Jammu and Kashmir is among the best performing UTs/states of the country in this mass movement. Also, the outstanding performance of Jammu and Kashmir in the public campaigns like “Azadi ke Amrit Mahotsav”, “Har Ghar Tiranga”, “Meri Mati Mera Desh” is a proof that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Jammu and Kashmir is marching towards the golden age in Amrit Kaal,” he said.
LG Sinha emphasized that, under the guidance of the Prime Minister, industrialization has ushered in a transformative era for Jammu and Kashmir.
Notably, investment proposals totaling Rs 90,182 crore have been received, with industrial investments exceeding Rs 14,000 crore either materialized on the ground or progressing through related projects in the pipeline.
“Ongoing efforts are directed towards expediting the commencement of these projects, while the development of 46 new industrial estates is also underway,” he said.
LG Sinha also highlighted the alignment of the youth’s aspirations in Jammu and Kashmir with the national agenda under Prime Minister’s leadership.
“From 2021-22 to January 2024, a staggering 8 lakh 34 thousand youth have been provided with self-employment opportunities. In the realm of government jobs, recruitment has been completed for more than 34,000 posts based on merit, and an additional recruitment process is underway for 12,000 other posts. Recently, on the 19th of February, approval was granted to fill over 4000 vacant posts in the Jammu and Kashmir Police,” he said.
Lt Governor said that additionally, over 8 lakh women have ventured into entrepreneurship by participating in more than 87,000 self-help groups, marking a significant stride towards economic empowerment.
“Under your leadership the speed of project completion in Jammu and Kashmir has increased ten times than before. More than 92,000 projects have been completed in the last financial year and more than one lakh projects will be completed in this fiscal,” he added.
LG Sinha said before 2019, only 40 e-services were available in Jammu and Kashmir, but today more than 1100 public services are being extended to the common citizens.
“The farmers of Jammu and Kashmir are today at the fifth position in the entire country in terms of their monthly earnings. Besides, 29 projects are being implemented under the Holistic Agriculture Development Program at a cost of Rs 5013 crore which will bring a radical change in lives of 13 lakh families,” he said.
LG Sinha further said that Prime Minister, centuries ago Jammu and Kashmir, the crown jewel of India, was considered as the center of knowledge.
“PM has restored that ancient glory. The ecosystem of two-two premier institutions like AIIMS, IIM, IIT, NIFT, IIMC, centers of Industry 4.0 technology skilling, innovation and invention has empowered the youth by providing new strength to the education sector of Jammu and Kashmir. This city of temples has become the only region where there are AIIMS, IIT, IIM, Central Universities,” he said.
Lt Governor said that today Jammu and Kashmir stands at par with the leading UTs/states of the country on health parameters.
“The spiritual city of Jammu is now known as the major education hub of the country. After decades, the potential of Jammu division has been exploited and all the 10 districts are setting new records of development. I am fully confident that in the coming days, Kathua, Jammu, Samba, Reasi, Udhampur will stand at par with other industrial cities of the country,” he added.
LG Sinha said PM has created such a Jammu and Kashmir which is eager to make its full contribution towards developed India by acquiring new capabilities in a very short span of time.
“Jammu and Kashmir is making new achievements every day in the field of business, science, technology, art, culture and sports and is moving towards the pinnacle of peace and prosperity. This is the Jammu and Kashmir of your dreams. This is Jammu and Kashmir of your resolutions,” he added.
