Srinagar: Marengo Asia Hospitals made a significant achievement in the field of liver transplants by using the bloodless technique and discharging their patients in the shortest period. As many as 10 liver transplants have been performed in Marengo Asia Hospitals, Faridabad and Gurugram and 5 liver transplants using this technique have been successfully conducted in Marengo CIMS Hospital, Ahmedabad. Dr Punit Singla, Director – Liver Transplant and HPB Surgery, Marengo Asia Hospitals Group, and his team utilized the Werfen technique for this remarkable surgical procedure. Dr Punit was supported by Dr Rishabh Jain, Head – Liver Transplant Anaesthesia, Marengo Asia Hospitals. Marengo Asia Hospitals have pioneered this technique in performing the first bloodless organ transplant, heart transplant not only in India, but first time in Asia as well.
In the latest and highly advanced method of bloodless transplant, the patient’s own blood is conserved and returned to their body. Bloodless surgery eliminates the need for external blood or blood components from donors. During these surgeries, surgeons employ meticulous techniques and innovative procedures to minimize surgical blood loss, eliminating the need for transfusions. Bloodless organ transplant surgeries are exceptionally complex, demanding a high level of clinical expertise and an experienced team. Precision and accuracy are essential in these procedures to assess and minimize blood loss, thereby avoiding the necessity for a blood transfusion.
