Grand Valedictory function marks culmination of National Road Safety Month celebration at B’la

DC emphasizes that compliance to road safety & traffic rules is paramount in reducing road accidents & saving lives

Baramulla: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Baramullaon Saturday marked the successful culmination of National Road Safety Month-2024 with a grand valedictory function held at DakBanglow Baramulla.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa presided over the event as the chief guest, while as Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, Syed ShahnawazBhukhari was the guest of honour.
The function was attended by various stakeholders including Assistant Regional Transport Officer Baramulla, Muazzam Ali, and members from Transport Association of Sumo Stands, Bus stands from Baramulla, Sopore, Tangmarg, Pattan and Uri, besides students.
The culmination function witnessed insightful discussions and commitments towards enhancing road safety measures.
DC underscored the critical importance of adhering to road safety regulations to mitigate accidents and ensure the well-being of road users. He lauded the proactive efforts of the MVD and Transport Associations in organizing numerous awareness events throughout the district during the Road Safety Month.
Minga Sherpa urged all transporters, vehicle owners, drivers, conductors, travelers, and road users to strictly adhere to road safety and traffic rules, emphasizing that compliance is paramount in reducing road accidents and saving lives.
Speaking on the occasion, RTO Kashmir announced the commencement of Enforcement Month aiming to intensify efforts through targeted enforcement actions and awareness campaigns, fostering a culture of responsible driving and reducing accidents.
In his address, ARTO Baramulla emphasized the importance of following traffic rules and regulations and advocated to adhere to speed limits, besides desisting from overloading of passengers. He emphasized on the need of collective efforts from the society to minimise the fatalities.
The event concluded with a ceremony to honor officials from the Motor Vehicles Department, members of transport associations, and other stakeholders for their unwavering dedication to promote road safety in the region.
