Handwara : Handwara Bar Association on Thursday held election’s, where in Advocate Ghulam Nabi Khan emerged as winner, securing the majority, while Adv Rafi Afzal as Vice President of the association.
As per the details shared by the spokesman, Khan secured a noteworthy 47 votes out of 85, demonstrating a resounding mandate from the esteemed members of the Bar Association while as Advocate Nadeem Majeed, opponent secured 38 votes.
Similarly, for the post of vice president, Advocate Rafi Afzal emerged triumphant with a decisive mandate, garnering 43 votes, while his contender, Advocate Mir Imran trailed behind with 42 votes.
For the post of Joint Secretary, advocate Owais Majeed Malik emerged victorious with a commanding mandate of 55 votes, overshadowing his opponent, Advocate Shakoor Ahmad Bhat, who secured 30 votes.
Similarly, for the role of Treasurer, Advocate Abdul Wahid Mir clinched a landslide victory, securing an impressive 58 votes, while Advocate Bilal Ahmad Malik garnered 27 votes, the spokesman said, adding Advocate Sajad Ahmed Hajam of being elected unopposed as the General secretary of the association.
Quoting Khan, newly formed president of the association, the spokesman said that he is steadfast in resolving, addressing the issues faced by colleagues, in particular the Junior advocates.
“The challenges about the availability of chambers, parking facilities, sanitation and other infrastructure development of Additional Sessions Court Handwara will be earnestly pursued with the relevant authorities, Khan while expressing his commitment to the welfare of the legal fraternity said.
Meanwhile, the newly elected president extended his gratitude to Election Commissioner, Advocate Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh and his esteemed team for ensuring the conduct of fair, seamless, and transparent elections.
Moreover, senior advocates, Abdul Rashid Lone, Assadullah Dar and Mohammad Abdullah Mir conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to all members of the Bar Association for their active participation in the electoral process.
