DLSA B’gam committed to safeguard Rights of Juveniles; organizes Awareness Prog

Budgam :: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Budgam, under the Aegis of JKLSA on Wednesday organized a day long programme in collaboration with District Child Protection Office Budgam, on ‘Children in Conflict With Law & Children in Need of Care and Protection’ at conference hall of Juvenile Justice Board Budgam.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Khalil Ahmad Choudhary, Chairman DLSA, Budgam and under the supervision of Jehangir Ahmad Bakshi, Secretary DLSA Budgam and Ubaid-ul-Khazir, District Child Protection Officer Budgam.
The programme witnessed the presence and active participation of Staff of DSWO/DCPU office Budgam, members of Juvenile Justice Board Budgam, staff of One Stop Centre, Child Welfare Committee, District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Child Help Line Budgam, Staff members of Juvenile Justice Board Budgam, representatives from Education department, Teachers, Ashas from medical and health department and dedicated Para legal Volunteers (PLVs) of DLSA and Tehsils of Budgam.
Speaking on the occasion, Adv. Feroz Ahmad Khan briefed the audience about the benefits and importance of Juvenile Justice Care and Protection Act.
He dealt on the role of PLVs before the Juvenile Justice Board, when a child in conflict with law is produced before the board. He also highlighted the role of DLSA, especially Panel Lawyers and LADCs and Para Legal Volunteers. Furthermore he also briefed the audience about the services and schemes of NALSA viza a-viz DLSA likewise free legal Aid, ADR Mechanism, Victim Compensation Scheme.
In his speech he also apprised the audience about role and responsibilities of Child Welfare Committee and constitutional safe guards meant for women and child etc.
Other speakers including Rukaya Tasleem, Sandeep Kour, Muneer Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
