DC Kathua presides over Block Diwas Prog at Loundi- Hiranagar

Kathua: Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, on Wednesday presided over a Public Outreach programme as part of weekly Block Diwas here at Loundi Panchayat of Hiranagar to redress the grievances of local populace.
On the occasion, ex- PRIs, Social activists, individuals projected the issues the issues of public importance and sought immediate redress of the same.
The major issues highlighted during the proceedings of block diwas included desilting of irrigation Canals and Kuhls, early completion of PMGSY and JJM projects, repair of Community bunkers, repair of GMS Chhan Khatrian and Chhan Morian, refurbishing of Health Sub-Centre Sura and Sub-Centre Saad etc.
After giving a patient hearing, the DC Kathua assured people that all of their genuine issues will be redressed with the active intervention of the concerned departments.
Responding to the demand of desilting of irrigation assets, the DC directed the Irrigation department to complete the task at the earliest. On the issue of repair of community bunkers, the DC directed concerned Tehsildar and BDO to inspect the bunkers so as to ascertain the reason of the damages.
The DC also directed Chief Education Officer and Chief Medical Officer to start necessary repair work of the projected buildings of the School Education and Health Departments on priority basis.
The DC called for optimum utilization of available funds in line with popular aspirations viz a viz the civil amenities like lanes, roads, schools, hospitals, public library and community halls etc while formulating CAPEX plan for next fiscal .
Among others present were Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, SDM Hiranagar and other district and sectoral officers.
Later, the DC convened a meeting of PRIs and officers of different departments to finalise the identified villages in the border belt of Kathua district to be upgraded the same as Model Villages on Pilot Basis.
After detailed deliberations, the meeting unanimously finalised Loundi, Kattal Brahamana, Kanthal, Shuba Chack and Jandi Villages to be elevated as Model Border Villages.
