Doda : Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, chaired a meeting in the mini hall of the DC office complex to address issues and grievances concerning the ex-servicemen of the district.
Present at the meeting were officials and non-official members of the Zila Sainik Welfare Board, including the Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Wing Commander Tirath Singh (Retd), besides ACR, SP Headquarter, Programme Officer ICDS and representative of the concerned department.
During the meeting, several concerns were brought to light, including proposals to name government educational institutes, the clock tower in Doda, and the Ganpat Bridge after the name of Martyrs of the district who sacrificed their precious lives for the nation. It was also highlighted that some prominent government assets may be named after Subidar Chuni Lal, a recipient of the Vir Chakra, Sena Medal, and Ashoka Chakra. Other issues discussed included holding of rallies by army authorities, renovation of existing and construction of new assets, renewal of weapon licenses for ex-servicemen, permission for cricket coaching, and concerns regarding ECHS clinic facilities.
In response to the ex-servicemen’s concerns, the DC assured that all issues and grievances would be addressed promptly. He specifically addressed the need for medical specialists at the ECHS clinic and promised to resolve the entry problem near ECHS clinic soon.
Additionally, he emphasized the district administration’s unwavering support for army personnel and their causes, expressing solidarity and respect. The DC sought collaboration of the Board in the promotion of “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” and suggested organizing fitness camps to prepare future defence service candidates.
The meeting underscored the commitment of the district administration to the welfare of ex-servicemen and their families. By addressing various concerns and pledging support, the DC demonstrated a proactive approach to ensure the well-being and recognition of those who have served the nation. The collaborative efforts between the administration and ex-servicemen aim to create a supportive environment and uphold the honour of those who have dedicated their lives to the defence of the nation.
