Udhampur : As part of J&K administration’s public outreach initiative, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Jal Shakti Department, ShaleenKabra, on Saturday presided over a mega public outreach programme at Dudupanchayat, Udhampur.
The event served as a platform for addressing grievances and demands raised by the local populace.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from DDC members, former PRI members and the general public representing various regions.
Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, SaloniRai, Mission Director, JJM, Dr. G N Itoo, Chief Engineer Jal Shakti, Chief Engineer I&FC Department, Manoj Gupta, SSP, Joginder Singh, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ghan Sham Singh, DDC member Latti-Marothi, Pinky Devi, DDC member Narsoor, SubashChander and other senior officers were present in the programme.
Different government departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, Health, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Social Welfare, Handicraft, Handloom and others had set up awareness stalls regarding their respective schemes.
The Additional Chief Secretary along with Deputy Commissioner inspected the stalls and interacted with the officers and reviewed progress on their schemes on ground.
During interaction with the public and former PRI members, several issues and demands were raised, including opening of a KendriyaVidyalaya School in Dudu, construction of roads, forest clearance, establishment of PHE guest house, infrastructure development for religious sites, staff shortages in educational and health institutions and recruitment drives for youth employment.
Appreciating the natural beauty and tourism potential of the region, ShaleenKabra emphasized the need for sustainable development and transparent recruitment processes to address the demands effectively. He acknowledged the efforts of the local community in maintaining cleanliness and assured them of the government’s commitment towards resolving their grievances promptly.
ACS reiterated government’s dedication towards ensuring access to basic facilities and services for all citizens, emphasizing the importance of schemes like JalJeevan Mission in providing clean water connections to every household. He underscored the role of local communities and water committees in ensuring the quality and maintenance of water resources at the village level.
The primary objective of the public outreach programme was to address day-to-day issues faced by the public and facilitate implementation of centrally sponsored schemes at the grassroots level.
ShaleenKabra assured the public of timely redressal of their grievances and demands concerning their respective areas.
